Record warmth again next week, then a chance of rain and snow
Looking a bit farther ahead, a storm system will move across the Midwest from Tuesday through Wednesday. On the leading edge of that storm system, there’s a chance of showers Tuesday. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was even a rumble of thunder on Tuesday, on the warmer side of that storm system. Highs will still be in the mid- to upper-50s Tuesday, with some spots in north Iowa reaching the 60s. There is a chance of snow on the colder, backside of that storm system on Wednesday. There are still a lot of mixed signals in the data regarding the track of that storm. Don’t get your hopes up too high for a significant snow, although it’s within the realm of possibility that we get just enough to shovel.
Even if we receive an accumulation of snow Wednesday, all signs are pointing to yet another surge of warm air late next week to next weekend. Above average temperatures appear likely through the first week of March.
