Winter storm takes aim on the area Friday
A strong winter storm has its eye on the area beginning late Thursday night.
Thursday will be a quiet day under a mostly cloudy sky with the possibility of some glimpses of sunshine. High temperatures will be in the upper teens to lower 20s.
Snow develops late Thursday night and will continue throughout the day on Friday and into Saturday, becoming heavy at times. A WINTER STORM WARNING has been issued for the entire ABC 6 Weather First area.
Total snow accumulations of 6-10″ is possible across the area with some locally higher amounts possible.
The wind will also ramp up throughout the day on Friday with gusts up to 35 mph possible which will lead to blowing and drifting snow especially in open and rural areas.
The bulk of the snow will wind down on Saturday morning with some snow showers possible throughout the day.
Arctic cold settles in behind the storm with temperatures falling below-zero by Sunday morning and highs in the single digits below-zero for Sunday and Monday.
