Wisconsin Tornadoes
The National Weather Service has surveyed tornado damage from storms Thursday night in Wisconsin. Locally, all we had was some light rain or even virga (rain before it falls to the ground).
In Wisconsin, it was a different story. The state had its first two tornadoes touch down on record in February. Based on data from the National Weather Service dating back to 1950, Minnesota has never had a tornado in either January or February.
The tornado that hit Evansville, WI (about 30 minutes south of Madison) was an EF-2 that had similar characteristics to the Taopi tornado from nearly two years ago. There was also an EF-1 tornado that touched down as well.
With much colder temperatures in the area going forward, we should not see anything like this even remotely close to our area anytime soon.
