Man chases and shoots at group of hunters
(ABC 6 NEWS) – The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office said three men were chased in their vehicle and shot at by another man when hunting on Saturday.
The three men told deputies they own some hunting land in Elgin and were pheasant hunting.
When the men left, they found a pheasant in the ditch of the 31,000 block of County Rd. 67 in Elgin. The men pulled over to shoot it and while they were looking at it an unknown woman began yelling at them to leave.
One of the victims yelled back "Happy New Year" at the woman and they left.
When they were driving on 80th Ave. NE they saw another vehicle coming behind them catching up to them. They figured the person wanted to talk to them about the woman.
The men pulled over and the vehicle passed them and parked further in front of them, blocking the road. He got out of the car with a black rifle in hand and pointed it at the men, according to the sheriff’s office.
The men drove past the truck and the man fired several shots at them.
The men said the man followed them and they believed he was going 100 mph to catch up to them.
The man shot at them again and they were eventually able to get away and called law enforcement.
The sergeants located spent shell casings on 75th St. NE. and investigations were able to determine where this happened and talk to the people at the residence.
Paul Reichel, 63 from Rochester admitted to deputies taking shots at the men and was arrested.
He is facing possible charges of 3 counts of 2nd-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, reckless driving, reckless discharge of a firearm, and drive-by shooting.
