A month of online threats targeting school districts
(ABC 6 News) – Osage Community Schools were ordered to shelter in place earlier today after finding themselves at the center of an online threat.
The order was lifted an hour after it started, and after a 14-year-old boy was arrested.
On social media app SnapChat, the boy allegedly said he planned on shooting up schools in Osage and Corydon, Iowa.
Meanwhile, late Monday night, Rochester Public Schools was also targeted.
The district said it came from a Century High School student but the threat was quickly found not to be credible.
Earlier this month, Grand Meadow Public Schools was also targeted by threats just days after St. Ansgar found themselves in a similar situation.
Although each incident ended peacefully, it’s still a cause of concern.
Parents, students and caregivers are all asked to be mindful and quickly report anything suspicious.
