Albert Lea basement fire burns homeowner

(ABC 6 News) – At around 7:40 Monday morning, Albert Lea Fire Rescue responded to reports of a basement basement fire on 11 Street East.
When crews arrived, the homeowner had vacated the home.
Fire crews attended the scene for about an hour, reporting minimal fire damage, but smoke damage throughout the home.
ALFR estimate about $8,000 in damages.
According to the ALFR, debris falling onto a hot stove ignited, causing the fire.
The homeowner sustained minor burns and additional injuries to their face, due to falling on the stairs.
Mayo Ambulance transported the homeowner to Mayo Clinic Health Systems for treatment. The homeowner has since been released.
Albert Lea Police Department assisted on the scene.
