(ABC 6 News) – A pair of Alden brothers are competing in 4-H showing at this years Minnesota State Fair.
It runs in the family for Maddox and Elliot Christensen who are at the fair for another year of 4-H showing.
Their mom, Kris, showed when she was younger, and now the boys work every day, all year to make sure their animals are ready to show.
Getting their animals ready include washing, feeding, and watering them, a process that takes up several hours of their day.
16-year-old Maddox spends most of his time taking care of a nearly 1,400 pound steer, while 12-year-old Elliot spends his days with sheep.
“Getting to work with the animals, we enjoy it a lot, and it’s a lot of fun to be up at the state fair, hang out and have fun. There will be a lot of washing and rinsing. you got to keep their stalls cleaned out and the animals looking nice for public appeal. You have fun with your friends in the barn and hang out all day. it’s fun,” said Maddox.
Its the fourth year Maddox is competing at the fair, and the second for Elliot.
