Austin man accused of sexually assaulting teenager
(ABC 6 News) – An Austin man faces four charges of 5th-degree criminal sexual conduct after allegedly assaulting a coworker at an assisted living facility.
Collin Safari Mayaka, 24, formerly listed a St. Paul address.
He appeared in Mower County Court Monday, Jan. 22.
According to court documents, in September of 2023, a 17-year-old girl told police Mayaka had sexually assaulted her at St. Mark’s in the city of Austin.
The juvenile told police that Mayaka lived in the Twin Cities, but St. Mark’s allowed him to stay in an ICU room while he worked there.
According to court documents, the teenager told police that Mayaka had been increasingly sexually aggressive toward her during the spring and summer of 2023, and eventually assaulted her in multiple times inside St. Marks and the parking lot of the business.
According to court documents, after the teenager made a report to the nursing director, Mayaka allegedly told her to take back the statements, then said he was “now sober and that he did not remember the incidents.”
Mayaka denied any sexual contact with the teenager, according to court documents.
Mayaka was officially charged in December of 2023.
His next hearing is scheduled for Feb. 15.
