(ABC 6 News) – The city of Kasson announced that a ballot proposal for funding a new fire department has been approved.
The city says the current facility is nearing the end of its lifespan and a new one will improve the health and safety of firefighters.
The ballot measure will seek to fund a new department that will cost 7-million dollars or less.
It’ll be funded by a property tax of 20-cents per 1-thousand dollars of assessed valuation, meaning the owner of a 250-thousand dollar home would pay just over 4-dollars a month.
A public meeting will be held next week and residents will vote on the proposal in Novemeber.
