(ABC 6 News) – Days away from the election, major candidates from both the Republican and Democratic parties are making their final push to earn your vote.
During ‘Get Out the Vote’, candidates from both parties came to Med City to rally voters. In what some believe may be one of the biggest election in history, in terms of voter turnout.
Members of both parties say they’ve spent the Summer and Fall knocking on doors to inform people about their candidates. Hoping to remind people that their vote matters.
“Our goal is to get known democrats and get them to the pool and get them excited about voting,” Swanson said. “… make sure they know that the midterms do matter and they can make a difference.”
Across town, at the Rochester Eagles Club, Republican supporters held a dinner meet and greet rally with State Attorney candidate Jim Schultz and State Auditor candidate Ryan Wilson.
Like the DFL, Republican supporters have been busy knocking on doors to inform voters. Maria Poirier, has been helping Republican campaigns by knocking on doors and running social media for candidates. She says it’s been a long road and hopes her efforts will make a difference.
“Campaigning and elections can be like a combat sport at times, but it’s really not,” Poirier said. “At the end of the day, we’re here together to work towards a common good.
To get across the finish line you have to have a strong ending and whoever shows up to vote is going to win.”
The midterm election is Tuesday, November 8th.
