(ABC 6 News) — The City of Oronoco is being recognized for its work protecting drinking water.

The city is a finalist in the 2024 Source Water Protection Award.

The Minnesota Department of Health and Rural Water Association noted several projects Oronoco undertook to protect its drinking water from contamination.

These included installing a backup power supply for the city well and sealing unused wells.
