(ABC 6 News) – One of Rochester’s staple events is back this year and it’s bigger than ever!
Social-ICE is back after a two-year Hiatus from the pandemic, and you can let the good times roll and the music play as the theme this year is Decades.
No matter where you look, you’re surrounded by all things music. Even Elvis is at the event!
“It’s been an Interesting ride,” Katie Adelman, Director of Content and Communications for the Rochester Downtown Alliance said.
The pandemic changed the way a lot of events operated. This event was no exception. In 2022, Social Lights took place to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines.

“It’s a return to normal, after not having it last year, it’s good to know that there will be people out on the plaza enjoying the event again,” Nick Lensing, an Ice Carver at the event said.
The weather tried to crash this event, but Ice Carvers like Nick Lensing thrive in the cold.
“It’s awesome being a part of an event that people associate Rochester with,” Lensing said.
The Rochester Downtown Alliance also took the necessary precautions because of the storm, set up took a bit longer than usual.

“The storm, we were watching it, and it came to fruition, we had to adapt,” Adelman said.
Their hard work paid off, and the event will be enjoyed by many in no time!
The event kicks off Friday at 4 p.m. right in Peace Plaza.
