(ABC 6 News) – A suspect in a 2021 Rochester shooting appeared in Olmsted County Court Monday, Feb. 5, and is currently held on $250,000 bail with or without conditions.

Antoine Goodman of Farmington, MN is scheduled to appear for a review hearing April 1, 2023.

According to Minnesota court documents, Goodman was subject to a Rule 20 Competency Evaluation in June of 2023, to determine if he was mentally capable of participating in his own legal defense.

The results of the evaluation were not made public.

When a Minnesota defendant is found incompetent to participate in their own legal defense, the state often sets regular review hearings, working under the assumption that someone unable to go through the court system may recover enough to proceed later on.

(ABC 6 News) – A suspect in a 2021 Rochester shooting was arrested in Dakota County and transported to the Olmsted County ADC Friday, Feb. 2.

Antoine Goodman of Farmington, MN faces two charges of 1st-degree attempted murder–premeditated; two charges of 2nd-degree assault with a dangerous weapon–substantial bodily harm; and one count of felon in possession of a firearm related to a shooting at Motel 6 in Rochester July 17, 2021.

According to court documents, police responded to Motel 6 to investigate a shooting, where a woman had been shot in the back and transported to the hospital.

The bullets had been fired into the woman’s room from outside, and police believed there were two shooters, at they had found 12 bullet holes in two different calibers.

According to court documents, another woman told police she believed she knew the shooter, and had heard from a man staying at the hotel that Tiron Chayvon Brown had fired at him while he was in the room with the woman who had been injured.

Brown, facing the same charges as Goodman plus one charge of terroristic threats, is scheduled to appear in Olmsted County Court for a pretrial hearing March 5, followed by a jury trial March 11.

Court documents allege that two shooters were visible on Motel 6 surveillance video, and the cameras captured the vehicle they arrived and left in, which was allegedly registered to Goodman.

Court documents also claim that both men were clearly identifiable in video of two men staying at the 2nd Street Inn and Suites on the same night, wearing the same clothes and in the same car as the shooters.

According to Minnesota court documents, Goodman was subject to a Rule 20 Competency Evaluation in June of 2023, to determine if he was mentally capable of participating in his own legal defense.

Also in June of 2023, Goodman failed to appear for a pretrial hearing and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was re-arrested in July, failed to appear again, and a second warrant for his arrest went out in September 2023.

Goodman’s next Olmsted County Court hearing had not been scheduled Friday evening.
