DMCC partners meet with Minnesota Med-Tech 3.0
(ABC 6 News) – At today’s quarterly Destination Medical Center Corporation (DMCC) Board of Directors meeting, a new effort was made to bring additional federal funding to Rochester.
The DMCC board solidified their partnership with Minnesota Med-Tech 3.0, a co-op of multiple organizations working to streamline healthcare through cutting-edge technologies like AI, machine learning and data science.
Through grant application, DMCC hopes to bring $4 million to $70 million into the Med City from the U.S. Economic Development Administration.
“I’m thrilled that we are going after this federal grant. I hope, and I know, it’s really about more than that white flash or cover,” said ___ of DMCC. “This to me is really about the connective tissue that helps us complete with the rest if the world instead of these old antiquated ways of competing with each other.”
The board also discussed the importance of accelerating housing development, for both current and future needs.
Possible options include tax increment financing market-rate housing, which would divert future property tax revenues into current projects.
The next regular DMCC board meeting is set for May 23.
