Rochester Regional STEM Fair returns for its 66th year
(ABC 6 News) – For 66 years, Rochester Community Education has been inspiring the next generation of STEM students.
Friday was no different, as the Rochester Regional STEM Fair returned for the annual event.
Students in grades six through 12 gathered at the Rochester Community and Technical College. Coming from Dodge to Fillmore to Houston counties and everywhere in between. Students showed off their science and engineering projects, all inspired by a problem or question that interests them.
“Apple Watches, and maybe Samsung watches and Fitbit watches, they have a certain type of technology they use to monitor your heart rate, a photoplethysmogram. So, my project is aiming to investigate how motion impacts the accuracy of that photoplethysmogram,” said Aditi Sriram, a seventh grader at John Adams Middle School in Rochester.
More than 190 students from Rochester Public Schools participated. The day finished with a special awards ceremony celebrating everyone’s hard work.
