Emmett Louis Till Victims Recover Program
(ABC 6 News) – A program instituted in memory of a murdered teen is now taking proposals for new programs to help victims of trauma.
Minnesota’s Emmett Louis Till Recovery Program aims to not only help trauma victims, but their families.
The program is currently offering a total of $500,000 in grants to provide support and services to victims, families and heirs to trauma.
The grant could fund health and wellness services (including cultural and spiritual, mental and physical health needs).
Trauma can stem from events such as assault, intimidation, wrongful conviction or experiences of discrimination. In some cases, witnessing a crime can spur trauma responses.
The grant will be available for community-based organizations that have proven successful in offering “culturally competent” services.
Applications for the grant will be accepted until April 1, with a letter of intent required by March 15.
