Energy co-ops issue peak energy alert for Monday morning
(ABC 6 News) – Local energy co-ops are issuing a peak energy alert for Monday morning due to high demand on the regional electrical grid.
Members with Freeborn Mower Electric Cooperative, MiEnergy Cooperative and People’s Energy Cooperative are asked to reduce usage of energy if possible.
The issue is set to begin at 7 a.m. on Monday.
Members enrolled in the Dual Fuel Energy Management Program will be affected from approximately 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Members can help conserve energy by setting their heating systems to 68 degrees, lower if no one is home, running the dishwasher or doing laundry later in the day, using a microwave instead off the oven to cook and avoid turning on televisions or any gaming systems.
The energy co-ops collectively serve around 57,000 people in the area.
