Faribault County man sentenced to 16.5 years in prison for sexually abusing a child

UPDATE: Nicholas Daniel Larson has been sentenced to more than 16-and-a-half years in prison for 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child and 5th-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child.

Larson will spend more than 15-and-a-half years behind bars in the St. Cloud prison for the 1st degree criminal sexual conduct charge with credit for 230 days served. Larson will get conditional release after 10 years.

Larson is also sentenced to 364 days for the 5th degree criminal sexual conduct with a child charge.

Larson will be able to serve both sentences at the same time.

(ABC 6 News) – UPDATE: According to Minnesota Court Records, Nicholas Daniel Larson pleaded guilty to one charge of 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child, and one charge of 5th-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child in Dodge County Court Wednesday.

Larson, 42, was accused of sexually abusing a child between ages 6 and 12, including use of force and causing injury during the alleged 6-year period of abuse.

He received the first four 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct charges in 2022, but was accused of one more 5th-degree criminal sexual conduct charge Feb. 6, 2023.

The 5th-degree criminal sexual conduct charge was first reported in 2017, but charges were not pursued until well after Larson’s other criminal sexual conduct case began.

The Dodge County Attorney’s Office refused to comment on the delayed charges in the 2017 case when ABC 6 News inquired in March.

ABC 6 News has filed information requests with Dodge County to determine why no charges were filed in between the 2017 investigation and February of 2023.

The details of Larson’s plea agreement were not posted publicly Wednesday, April 26, but his sentencing was scheduled for July 19, 2023.

(ABC 6 News) – UPDATE: A Frost, MN man pleaded not guilty to four counts of 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of 5th-degree criminal sexual conduct in Dodge County Court Wednesday, Feb. 22.

Nicholas Daniel Larson, 42, was accused of sexually abusing a child between ages 6 and 12, including use of force and causing injury during the alleged 6-year period of abuse.

He received the first four criminal sexual conduct charges in 2022, but was accused of one more 5th-degree criminal sexual conduct charge Feb. 6.

According to the new court documents, Dodge County law enforcement heard from an Owatonna social worker in 2017, who said she had met with a 12-year-old who said Larson tried to undress her while she was sleeping at his residence.

The 12-year-old told law enforcement she had avoided the home since 2016, out of fear of Larson.

The court documents do not state why no charges were filed against Larson after the 12-year-old girl’s testimony in the summer of 2017.

The Dodge County Attorney’s Office refused to comment Tuesday, March 21.

ABC 6 News has filed information requests with Dodge County to determine why no charges were filed in between the 2017 investigation and February of 2023.

Larson is held at the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center on $250,000 bond with conditions, according to Minnesota court records filed Feb. 22, or $500,000 bond without conditions.

Larson is scheduled for a pretrial hearing March 21, 2023.

(ABC 6 News) – A Frost, MN man was charged Monday with four counts of 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct after a teenager told law enforcement that the man had sexually abused them between ages 6 and 12 while living in Dodge County.

Nicholas Daniel Larson, 42, is currently being held at the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center on $250,000 bond with conditions or $500,000 bond without conditions, on behalf of Dodge County Court.

The alleged victim told Dodge County Law Enforcement that around age 6, Larson began the abuse which included restraints, the use of whips, sexual abuse, and photography.

According to court documents, the victim was also forced to view sexually explicit materials, and the abuse continued for six years.

Larson’s next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 19.
