(ABC 6 News) – The Dodge County fair is coming to a close this weekend.
This means the clock is ticking to enjoy all the rides games and delicious food.
But it’s also the final chance to see what 4H and FFA members look forward to the most, showing off their animals.
One future farmer, Zoey Mehling, took on the challenge of showing a pig for the first time this year. Together with her pug “Sassy”, they took home a blue ribbon.
Her mother Bailey says she’s proud that Zoey stepped up to the challenge.
“It feels good to watch her follow in my footsteps,” Bailey said. “She got off to a rough start, she was a little scared of her.
“But now they’ve made that bond and she absolutely loves it.”
But pigs aren’t the only animals hamming it up at the fair.
Another future farmer, Alexis Brock took on the challenge of showing not one, but four goats this year.
“I actually started by showing cattle,” Brock said. “But I just made some connections by showing cattle and so I got two goats first. But I fell in love with showing goats so I got more.”
Of course, there are also a number of other animals fairgoers can see.
Including:
Poultry, rabbits, sheep, cows, horses, and other exotic animals.
The Dodge County Fair runs through Sunday (June 17th)
