(ABC 6 News) – A trio of Tawonda Burks, Tim Nela, and Deon Oden came together to create Our Road to Homeownership workshop to educate the public on the benefits of owning a home.
They went over the importance of maintaining a good credit score as that plays a part in home ownership.
With this being the first workshop, they wanted to make sure that everyone understood the process to buy a home.
“A lot of the conversations were solely just focused on a lot of people being first-time buyers, but ultimately the thing is we want to open it up and have more conversation, more dialogue about other things as well,” real estate agent for the Enclave Team Tim Nela said.
The goal of this workshop was for the audience to increase their financial literacy.
“It gave me a chance to learn things I didn’t know so, toward owning your own house, owning your own business,” audience member Keith Lee said.
Whether you’re a first-time homebuyer or never really gave any thought about buying a home, they hope that everyone can walk away from this workshop learning something new.
“Everyone should own a home, with that being said on top of it, it’s also information that can be passed along to other people,” Mortgage Loan Officer of Coulee Bank Deon Oden said.
