Iowa AEA bill passes state House

(ABC 6 News) – The first piece legislation reforming Area Education Agencies passed in the Iowa House last night.
Iowa Republicans claim the bill will give school districts more oversight into their special needs services, while Democrats say their constituents are voicing concerns over the legislation.

“I have not received one email, as I said earlier, in favor of this proposal, not one,” said Rep. Sharon Steckman (D-Cerro Gordo). “I have received countless emails in favor of the AEA’s and praising the work that they do.”
The bill now moves onto the Senate where, if passed, will head to Governor Kim Reynold’s desk.
