(ABC 6 News) – A Mason City resident announced he will run under the Republican ticket for Iowa House District 59, representing Cerro Gordo County.
On Wednesday, Christian Hermanson announced his candidacy, building a platform on lower taxes, cutting business regulation and expanding public safety programs.
Hermanson plans to retire after serving 29 years in the U.S. Air Force with the rank Chief Master Sergeant. He is currently assigned as a Reserve Senior Leader in Stuttgart, Germany.
Though now living in Mason City, Hermanson has previously worked with the Department of Veteran Affairs in Minneapolis.
The current state representative of District 59, Representative Sharon Steckman, announced in January that she does not plan to run for reelection in November.
