(ABC 6 News) – In Iowa, the family of a victim killed in the Anamosa State Prison nearly three years ago filed a wrongful death lawsuit on Jan. 9, 2024.
Lorena Schulte, who worked as a prison nurse, was killed by two inmates during a failed prison escape attempt in 2021.
Her family alleges the warden failed to implement and follow state prison policies.
The family goes on to say the warden failed to provide enough staffing that could have prevented the attack.
As for Schulte’s killers, both suspects pleaded guilty to the crime, they currently serve life sentences.
