(ABC 6 News) – Family Dentist Tree is hosting its 5th annual Candy Buyback event beginning Nov. 1.
If you’re not a big fan of candy but want to get in on the trick-or-treating fun, your candy could make you some money.
After Halloween, kids will bring in their candy, place it on a scale, and will receive a dollar per pound of candy!
“They’re kind of competitive about it, sometimes kids will be like ‘how many pounds did I get? What’s the record?’ Even three or four pounds can get them three or four dollars,” says Dr. Jacob Peters.
Candy must be individually wrapped, and the maximum amount a person can donate is 20lbs.
The candy is then donated to Operation Shoebox, which sends the candy to troops deployed overseas, and kids can even make cards for the soldiers too!
“I think the parents love it, I’m a parent too. A couple of days after you’re just like ‘what are we going to do with all of this?’ They get to get the candy out of the house and put it to a good cause at the same time,” says Dr. Peters.
Last year they set a record of 758 pounds!
You can donate candy during normal business hours from Nov. 1-4.
