Chatfield man accused of construction site burglary
(ABC 6 News) – A Chatfield man faces burglary charges after being spotted in a construction site on the 400 block of N Broadway.
Rochester police responded to the site around midnight Friday, Dec. 23, after a caller spotted 39-year-old Joseph Borst on security cameras.
Police allegedly made contact with Borst after he attempted to flee on foot.
Capt. Casey Moilanen with RPD said initial reports suggested Borst may have taken a substance, and that he was taken to a hospital for evaluation before being transported to the adult detention center.
Borst allegedly admitted to going to the site to steal copper wiring, Moilanen said.
Moilanen said Borst was previously convicted of and incarcerated for another burglary.
He faces charges of burglary, possession of burglary tools, and fleeing police on foot.
