(ABC 6 News) – It may be the All-Star break for the major league baseball league, but the Miracle Field League is still swinging for the fences.

The league is generating a lot of hype this summer. So much so, that the Rochester Police and Fire Department decided to get in on the action during the Badges and Baseball game.

Each player got to team up with an officer or firefighter; Giving them a free lessons in what it takes to be a member of the Miracle League.

Rochester Police Chief Jim Franklin said he hopes the game will help paint a better picture of police officers.

“So this is a great opportunity to come out and show these people love, and play some baseball with them.” Franklin said. “…what we’re hoping to do is tear down any barriers or fears that locals might have about law enforcement.”

“So when they us in public they know these are the good guys.”

Both teams put on an all-star-worthy performance. Every at-bat is a highlight and the cheers of the fans can be heard across town.

The Miracle Field League plays for the sheer love of the game. No score, no winners, and no losers; Just a community of love and support.
