(ABC 6 News) – When people think of the Olmsted County Fair, all the good food probably comes to mind. But for some, the highlight of the fair is the Miracle of Birth Center.
As of Wednesday morning, 12 chicks, 13 piglets, and one calf have been born during the fair.
It’s the 11th year the center is calling the fairgrounds home. There are goats, chickens, cows, and piglets. If you’re lucky, you might be there when an animal gives birth. But the center isn’t just about the animals.
“You can see how modern agriculture works, how we birth our animals in modern agriculture and really figure out where your food does come from,” said Molly Kappers, the barn manager and volunteer coordinator at the Miracle of Birth Center.
There is a new educational display at the center on cows. It shows you what cows eat, and what they can and can’t turn into milk.
The fair runs through Sunday, July 31st.
