(ABC 6 News) – Monday the City of Spring Valley unveiled its new mural. The city received a “Paint the Town Grant” for the project, which is awarded to small communities for projects that have a positive visual impact on the community, and must involve volunteer participation for at least 50% of the work.

“We had tremendous community support, the local foundations contributed, local businesses contributed, everyone’s been really positive about it, so the feedback has been great, there’s been a lot of anticipation. The mural was actually painted inside the Community Center, so people using our community center would see bits and pieces of it through the last couple weeks. So, it’s been really fun,” said Spring Valley Economic Development Authority Director, Chris Hahn.

“I would like to finish up the finishing touches like covering the screw heads and putting the spots on the trout before this Wednesday. We have Wednesday on Broadway, so hopefully anyone who comes down this Wednesday can see the finishing touch,” said mural artist Andrea Hindt.

Seven volunteers helped paint the mural, and it took the group well over 75 hours to complete.
