(ABC 6 News) – Albert Lea’s new downtown water tower will soon feature the city’s updated logo.
Currently, a Texas company is applying three coats of paint to the interior part of the structure; and four coats to the exterior section of the tower. In total, the painters will use over 1,000 gallons of product.
At its max-width, the top of the tower totals 74′ 2″ wide, with the triangular section of the logo standing at 20′ tall.
The tower will hold one million gallons of water when completed. The water will help the city meet a federal requirement of having enough water for one day of use in case of system disruptions.
The painting project should wrap up in July, with the tower expected to be ready for operation soon after.
