Popus Gourmet Popcorn “pops” into Downtown Rochester

(ABC 6 News) – If you go downtown Rochester often, you might remember a sign for Essence Skin Care Clinic on the corner of 2nd Street and 1st Avenue Southwest. You also might remember, that space has been empty for a while.

That’s no longer the case, soon the more than 100-year-old Odd Fellows Building will have a new popcorn shop, Popus Gourmet Popcorn – Rochester.

“I’m excited to see something new on the street level,” said Holly Masek, executive director of the Rochester Downtown Alliance.

“I’m excited to have a new entrepreneur in town as well. I think it’s a signal that downtown is ready for a new evolution. Who are going to be our new business owners downtown? What kind of products are they going to bring? What are they excited about?”

Popus Gourmet Popcorn will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2 p.m. on Friday. Its official grand opening will happen on Monday, November 21.

The store is open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
