Two charged for breaking into Rochester apartment complex laundry facilities
(ABC 6 News) – Two people have been charged in a February 2021 break-in of the Silver Lake Apartment complex laundry facilities and stealing coins from the washer and dryer machines.
According to the criminal complaint, surveilance footage provided to the Rochester Police Department shows Stephanie Bellanger, 30, and Cody Hendrickson, 37, of Richfield, MN breaking into several buildings of the northeast Rochester complex by damaging the security doors of the laundry areas, and then using a crow bar or similar tool to pry the doors open. Once inside, they broke open the coin collectors and removed the coins.
Officers arrived and interviewed apartment complex staff and viewed the damage property. Both Bellanger and Hendrickson are not residents of the apartment complex.
It’s estimated the two inflicted $200 worth of damage to each door, and $100 of damage to each laundry machine. The estimated theft from each machine was $22 in coins.
Bellanger, who currently is in the Minnesota State Correctional facility in Shakopee on an unrelated offense.
Hendrickson is facing 21 total charges including burglary, damage to property, and theft. Hendrickson made his first appearance in Olmsted County court on Wednesday. His next appearance is scheduled for August 9.
