Mantorville man pleads guilty to one of 10 child pornography charges in exchange for probation

(ABC 6 News) – A Mantorville man pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography Dec. 18, at his pretrial hearing.

Luke Brian Quimby, 29, originally faced 10 charges of possession of child pornography — 3 allegedly involving minors under age 14, and one charge of 5th-degree drug possession following a months-long investigation.

According to Quimby’s plea agreement, his defense will argue for a stay of adjudication — meaning if Quimby serves a probation term without incident, the felony sentence will not stay on his criminal record.

The state will argue for a stay of imposition, or a conviction resulting in probation only.

Dodge County judge Debra A. Groehler presided over the hearing.

According to court documents, Dodge County deputies received the tip in November, and learned the phone number connected to the Verizon account.

The phone number was registered to Quimby on Walnut Street, Mantorville, according to court documents.

The charging documents allege that a search warrant uncovered 25 or so CSAM photos and videos stored by the Verizon account.
Dodge County deputies allegedly called Quimby and arranged an interview Jan. 10, then drafted a search warrant for his home and vehicle.

When Quimby arrived at the sheriff’s office, he was placed under arrest while deputies searched his home, according to court documents.

Quimby allegedly told law enforcement he had never knowingly downloaded child pornography, but later said he had viewed videos of minors under age 18.

According to court documents, officers searching Quimby’s room found a rolled-up dollar bill they believed could be used to ingest cocaine.

The bill and a receipt allegedly tested presumptively positive for cocaine.

Court documents read: “When Quimby was asked about (the paper items), he replied, ‘drug use, sir.'”

Documents claim detectives later found 0.61 grams of a substance that tested presumptively positive for cocaine in Quimby’s vehicle.

Law enforcement allegedly found two additional cell phones in Quimby’s residence — one of which he claimed.

Quimby is currently held in the Olmsted County ADC on $0 bail with conditions, including abstaining from alcohol and drugs, or $50,000 bail with no conditions.
