(ABC 6 News) — The Mason City Public Library is closing until December 26 at 9 a.m. due to threats made over the weekend.

According to Mason City Police Chief Jeff Brinkley, a person going through a mental health episode came to the library on Saturday.

Library Director Mary Markwalter said the person was making threats before police arrived, and left notes saying he was going to “hurt” customers.

“We filed a police report and felt like for safety we should closed down until his apprehension,” Markwalter told ABC 6 News.

Chief Brinkley said the person was identified and given a no trespassing order.

While Markwalter said that the library is going to pursue charges against the person, Brinkley said MCPD is not pursing charges at this time.
