(ABC 6 News) – Charles City Fire Department say they were assisted by ten area departments on Tuesday night in responding to a brush fire in rural Floyd County, just north of Charles City.
Strong west-northwest winds helped fuel the blaze, which started when an attended brush fire in a wooded area lost control.
While some of our viewing area remains in a burn ban, Floyd County’s most recent burn ban was lifted on Wednesday, March 13.
Marty Parcher, chief of the Charles City Fire Department, said crews fought the fire for three hours before successfully extinguishing the flames, avoiding serious damage to nearby structures or crops.
