(ABC 6 News) – A Republican challenger is now stepping up to run against Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar.
Joe Fraser, a Navy veteran, filed for his candidacy this week hoping to unseat Klobuchar as she seeks her fourth term. Fraser has never held or ran for public office but believes his role as an outsider makes him an ideal candidate.
“It’s not just about being a Republican or a Democrat, it’s about being a Minnesotan. Different perspectives are what makes a team stronger,” said Fraser. “And that’s why I think being an outsider, at this time, is a good thing.”
In a statement, Klobuchar’s campaign said the senator is focused on delivering results for Minnesotans on drug prices and veterans health care, and that she’s seen as a bipartisan collaborator on capitol hill
