(ABC 6 News) – For all collector enthusiasts, Rochester’s Nerdin’ Out hosted the mother of all swaps Sunday for those interested in buying or selling collectibles.
From action figures to comic books and everything in between, the “Mega Swap” had everything a collector would look for.
Collectables covered every table, each seller hoping to make a good trade or some quick cash.
Buyers, hoping to come home with a rare, new addition to their own collection.
For Rick Burnett, he is new to the selling game.
“I have a lot of different eclectic stuff,” Burnett said. “I’m just trying to pass it on to someone who can get it out of the tote and enjoy it.”
He’s been collecting Batman memorabilia since he was six years old.
But, it isn’t all Burnett does.
A life-sized, hand-made Batman costume is his pride and joy.
The whole suit is for sale, everything made from scratch.
“I’m getting to an age where I’m no longer going to be wearing the outfit, because it would be a little inappropriate for a Batman who wouldn’t be able to get off the food if he ended up there,” Burnett laughed. “I just wanted to pass that on as well as the other items that I want other people to enjoy.”
As great as the trade show is, Burnett says making money is not his goal. He just wants someone to appreciate this collection as much as he does.
Whether you made a sale or walked away with something new, sometimes it is just nice to appreciate someone else’s hobby.
There will be another trade show opportunity coming up at the Apache Mall the weekend of March 18-19th called the Rochester Comic and Toy Show.
