(ABC 6 News)- As of July 1st, The Minnesota Department of Corrections is now providing free phone calls for those incarcerated in state facilities.
This comes after Governor Walz signed the Judiciary and Public Safety Budget Bill which allocated $3.1 million per year to eliminate the cost of the calls.
Minnesota is the fourth state to do this, with other states seeing it aid prisoners in rehabilitation and repairing estranged relationships.
