One dead after two vehicle collision near High Forest
(ABC 6 News) – A freight truck and Toyota Prius collided near High Forest Township in Olmsted County, leaving one injured and another dead.
At around 8:45 a.m., a Freightliner M2 Straight truck headed Northbound on Olmsted County Road 8 as a Toyota Prius headed Eastbound on Minnesota Highway 30 when the two vehicles collided at an intersection.
Minnesota State Patrol identified road conditions as wet.
The driver of the freight truck, 60-year-old Jeffry Burnikel of Lime Springs, Iowa, sustained non-life threatening injuries in the collision.
His airbag did not deploy.
Burnikel was taken to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester for treatment.
Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s crash report did not disclose the condition of the Prius driver.
More information will be made available tonight at 10 p.m.
Rochester and Stewartville Fire Departments, Mayo Ambulance and Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
