(ABC 6 News) – The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office says a body has been found in tall grass behind Byron City Hall.
The man’s identity has not been made public.
Law enforcement says they received a tip a few days ago. The tipster thought they heard a strange noise by a retention pond behind city hall. Deputies walked around the area where they found a dead man.
“We have called in the assistance of both regional examiner’s offices and the BCA to come down to assist us and try to figure out what happened. But with this being an ongoing investigation and remembering that this is a family member to somebody, we want to be respectful to the investigation and to and family member that doesn’t know what happened yet,” Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Captain Tim Parkin said.
Authorities don’t know why it took as long as it did for someone to call in the tip. They want to remind everyone that if you ever see or hear something suspicious to call it in.
An autopsy will be performed.
Just over a week ago, we learned of the disappearance of Wade Gordon, Junior. He was last seen on July 6 walking away from Ornua Ingredients in Byron which is just under three miles from city hall. His family and friends were at the scene, but, once again, police have not identified the man who died.
