One man arrested after a shooting in Austin; Mayo Clinic Health System on lockdown

(ABC 6 News) – One man has been taken into custody after allegedly shooting another man Saturday morning in Austin.
According to the Austin Police Department, officers responded to a firearms complaint at 10:18 a.m. at 1110 4th Ave NW and located an adult male victim at the scene with a gunshot wound.
Officers were speaking with the victim and providing aid until Mayo Ambulance and the Austin Fire Department arrived.
The victim was transported from the scene by Mayo Ambulance.
The suspect is 34-year-old Denroy Ashan Jeffers of Albert Lea. He was taken into custody in connection to the shooting.
According to Austin PD Chief David McKichan, the case is under investigation and being assisted by the Mower County Sheriff’s Office. He also says that this was an isolated domestic event with no danger to the public.

(ABC 6 News) — The Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin is in lockdown. According to a Mayo Clinic spokesperson, the lockdown is “due to a law enforcement situation in the community.”
There have been several reports of a possible gunshots in the area of 4th Ave NW, however that has not yet been confirmed by law enforcement.
