(ABC 6 News) – The cold weather is continuing to keep golfers off the course, but some have found a way to enjoy their favorite sport during the winter while also keeping warm.
The Professional Virtual Golfers of America had their 2022-2023 national championship at Chip Shots here in Rochester.
They featured players from around the country as they battled for their share of $10,000 and prizes.
This was the first season of the league and organizers that it continues to grow.
Joseph Higgins, the founder of the Professional Virtual Golfers of America said, “We have golfers here from North Dakota, Salt Lake City, right here in Rochester, we got people from Kansas, and Alaska so like I said we’re pulling from a big area of the country.”
Golfers could compete as individuals or in teams and the team champions walked away with a trophy.
After the first official season of the league, organizers hope it will grow in the Med City golfing community.
