(ABC 6 News) — A man has died after an overnight shooting in northwest Rochester.
According to the Rochester Police Department, the shooting happened around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30 at a home on the 4100 block of Manor Woods Dr. NW. First responders provided lifesaving measures, but the man died at the scene.
”The man at the house originally called 9-1-1 to report that he shot a man who had entered his house and assaulted him. So officers responded to that,” said Captain Paul Gronholz of the Rochester Police Department.
Rochester police say this has not yet been ruled a homicide, however, if it is, this will be the 5th homicide in 2024, which will be the highest number of homicides in Rochester since 2020. There were two homicides in 2023.
One person was taken into custody and questioned on Saturday, but then released. Nobody has been arrested at this time. Police said the individuals involved were known to each other, there is no known threat to the public and they are continuing to investigate.
They remind people that they can use the public’s help if anyone has any information.
”I want to reiterate that all people should be on the lookout for crime in the community and make sure to call police if you see something that you think should be reported,” said Gronholz.
