(ABC 6 News) – Iowa Republicans will walk back parts of their proposal to reform Area Education Agencies (AEA), special education services for Iowa students.
Governor Kim Reynolds stated students with disabilities perform far below the national average, yet the Iowa spends more than others.
In Reynold’s Condition of The State address, Reynolds called the state’s nine AEA’s focus to only be on students with disabilities.
But, following public outcry, Iowa Republicans say they’ll try to find a solution that saves the state money while also improving outcomes for disabled Iowa students.
