Rochester municipal IDs now available at the library

(ABC 6 News) – The Rochester Public Library’s municipal ID program opened Monday, Feb. 26.

Any resident can apply for a free, enhanced library card, which works as an alternative ID card and lets them access city programs, services, and activities.

So far, municipal IDs can be used to access Rochester transit/parking, request reduced fare, and apply for monthly parking, as well as access the Mexican Consulate.

The IDs can also be used to cash a check, pick up a prescription, or pick up a child from school, according to previous reporting.

A list of services and businesses that accept the cards will be updated on the Rochester Public Library website.

It cannot be used to vote, drive, or purchase alcohol, tobacco, or firearms.

In order to get a Library Municipal ID Card, Rochester residents must provide proof of identity and proof of residency from the list of options on the Rochester Public Library website.

They will need to fill out an application at the circulation desk and have a photo taken.
