Rochester police report SE theft, possible burglary attempt
(ABC 6 News) – Rochester police responded to a theft and an attempted burglary Monday, according to public information officer Amanda Grayson.
On Feb. 26, police received a report of a $25,000 copper optic lining theft.
Between 2 p.m. Feb. 23 and 9 a.m. Feb. 26, someone stole around 340 feet of the stuff from a construction site in the 500 block of 20th Street SE, Grayson said.
The investigation into the theft is ongoing.
Police also responded to a criminal damage to property call in the 200 block of 10 1/2 Street SE, Grayson said.
According to the caller, between 7:45 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. Monday, someone damaged the front door to a residence in a manner “consistent with someone trying to break into the home,” the caller told police.
Grayson said it did not appear that entry had been made, and the caller did not report anything stolen Monday.
