(ABC 6 News) – The Rochester Salvation Army hosted their annual Thanksgiving dinner Thursday afternoon for community members to enjoy.
Over 30 volunteers and 100 guests came and enjoyed the meal.
“It’s great to just see people coming in and saying ‘Happy Thanksgiving,'” said Major Cornell Voeller, with the Salvation Army. “I think they do really appreciate having a place to go on Thanksgiving day. A lot of older people who might be alone in their house or their apartment today, or people who just need a place to go are here, and we’re glad to provide that spot for them.”
The meal was absolutely free and included, turkey, veggies and even a pumpkin pie.
With the help of a donation from Scheels, the meal was cooked entirely from the many, dedicated volunteers that want to ensure everyone had a good holiday.
Major Voeller says community members look forward to this holiday meal every year. They love being able to spent time with others while also enjoying a hot dinner.
There is lunch provided every weekday, Monday – Friday at the Salvation Army from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
