(ABC 6 News) – It’s that time of year again where kids are asking Santa what they want for Christmas. Friday, kids in Austin got to do it in a little bit different way.
The Austin Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the third annual Santa Visit Drive-Thru. It was started during the pandemic as a safe alternative for kids to see Santa.
“We found out it was pretty popular so we just continued it. And it’s a great opportunity to drive through and visit with Santa, kids stay nice and warm they get to visit. They get a really fun goody bag that they get,” said Austin Area Chamber of Commerce President Elaine Hansen.
This event actually helped kickoff the Austin lighting contest. One of the items inside the goody bags the kids received was a map of where to drive around town to see all the amazing light displays and directions on how to vote for their favorite one.
