(ABC 6 News) – The Austin Public Schools (APS) Community Learning Center (CLC) has closed and canceled classes through September 12 because of bats.
In response, a letter was sent to parents and guardians on Wednesday in which APS Superintendent Joey Page said, “out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to move further education of students to our elementary buildings around the District.”
As a result of the logistics involved, APS has canceled classes at the CLC through September 12 with classes resuming at a new location on September 13.
In addition, the CLC’s Kids Korner program will be closed September 2, but will reopen with normal operations on September 6 at Sumner Elementary.
Page adds that student health or safety issues attributed to the bats are not a concern.
Parents and guardians can expect updates with more specific information once arrangements have been finalized according to Page.
