Austin teen sentenced to 180 days in jail, 15 years’ probation after second criminal sexual conduct conviction

(ABC 6 News) – Leonardo Antonio Nieto-Vasquez, 19, was sentenced to 180 days in jail and15 years’ probation Monday, Jan. 29, after being prosecuted for his second 3rd-degree criminal sexual conduct case involving a juvenile.

He received 53 days’ credit for time already served.

Nieto-Vasquez could be re-sentenced to 48 months in the MN Correctional Facility in St. Cloud if he fails to complete his probation without incident, according to court records.

Nieto-Vasquez was ordered to register as a predatory offender and complete sex offender treatment, as well as avoid unsupervised contact with vulnerable adults or people under age 18.

Finally, Nieto-Vasquez was ordered to complete 100 hours of community service, with credit for hours spent in sex offender treatment.

The Austin teenager was re-arrested after an alleged probation violation in his first criminal sexual conduct case in 2023. Judge Natalie Martinez placed Nieto-Vasquez back on probation, under the same conditions, in the first case.

(ABC 6 News) – According to Minnesota Court Records Online, Leonardo Antonio Nieto-Vasquez, 19, failed to appear in Mower County Court Friday, Jan. 5, to be sentenced on one count of 3rd-degree criminal sexual conduct.

He was taken into Mower County custody on a warrant Friday evening, and is currently held without bail or bond until his rescheduled sentencing Jan. 29.

Niewto-Vasquez pleaded guilty to the charge Oct. 20, after being sentenced to probation for a similar charge.

Nieto-Vasquez was also scheduled to appear on allegations that he had violated probation in the first case Friday.

(ABC 6 News) – Leonardo Antonio Nieto-Vasquez, 18, pleaded guilty to a second count of 3rd-degree criminal sexual conduct in Mower County Court Friday, Oct. 20.

Nieto-Vasquez was arrested earlier this week for alleged probation violations, after he pleaded guilty to his first 3rd-degree criminal sexual conduct charge in August.

Judge Natalie Martinez reduced Nieto-Vasquez’s bail to $0 with conditions, including avoiding alcohol and contact with minors, or $100,000 with no conditions.

Nieto-Vasquez is scheduled to appear in Mower County court for sentencing and an additional probation violation hearing Jan. 5, 2024.

(ABC 6 News) – An Austin teen convicted of one count of 3rd-degree criminal sexual conduct with a juvenile and accused of another was taken into custody Tuesday, Oct. 17, after Mower County Court became aware of multiple alleged probation violations.

Leonardo Antonio Nieto-Vasquez, 18, pleaded guilty to conducting a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old in mid-August, and was sentenced to 10 years’ probation, with a possibility of being re-sentenced to 3 years in prison if he violated the terms of said probation.

Two weeks later, Nieto-Vasquez was charged with raping a different 14-year-old. According to court documents from September, he was scheduled to enter a guilty plea to a second 3rd-degree criminal sexual conduct charge on Friday, Oct. 20.

On Tuesday, Oct. 17, Nieto-Vasquez was accused of violating the terms of his probation in his first criminal sexual conduct case — specifically, the court’s instructions to avoid contact with juveniles, and to avoid alcohol consumption.

A warrant for Nieto-Vasquez’s arrest was issued Oct. 17, and the teen appeared in Mower County Court Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Mower County judge Kevin Siefkin set Nieto-Vasquez’s bail at $100,000, with or without conditions.

He is still scheduled to appear for a plea hearing in the second criminal sexual conduct case Friday, Oct. 20.
