(ABC 6 News) – Several local businesses are still recovering after Saturday’s severe storms.
Especially Gray Duck Theater and Coffeehouse. It is temporarily closed for repairs as around 1 p.m. Saturday customers had to take shelter as the sirens went off, while a power surge hit the area.
“So, our sound system was knocked out. We had to emergency cancel both Saturday shows and Sunday shows. So that’s what happened. Really, really unfortunate but can’t do anything about the weather.” Owner of Gray Duck Theater and Coffeehouse, Andy Smith said.
Smith and his wife are also the owners of Garden Party Books next door which did not experience any damage.
Neighbors got their power back shortly afterward, but Gray Duck’s theater outlets were beyond repair. The business hopes to fully re-open by Friday while operating its coffee shop from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
These limited hours are in place to focus on installing new amps and speakers. For the canceled showings, customers who pre-purchased a ticket can honor it at any time once the theater re-opens.
The restaurant Crave inside Hotel Indigo has been closed since Sunday morning because of storm damage. The restaurant’s Facebook page says they are hopeful they’ll reopen tomorrow.
